From the desk of the Vice-President 2014-10

21-Sep-2014

Firstly, I would l like to thank you for voting me onto the committee as the Co-Vice President. I have been involved with wildlife as a carer and an activist for over 20 years and I never imagined when I met Sheree Crawford & Mike Holmes 9 years ago that I would be an office bearer with this amazing group.

I am looking forward to working with the dedicated, devoted people that make up your committee and with all the members.

F.A.U.N.A continues to fill the need for rescue and care of our wildlife, but F.A.U.N.A needs looking after too if it is to survive. As is often the case in community based groups a lot of the load falls on a small group of people who get tired and disheartened.

We are all members of an effective, well respected organisation which will leave an enormous gap in the community if it ceases to operate. We all need to be mindful that this is our group, we made it and we need to keep it going. Can we all spare a few days a year to help at community events? Can we assist in organised fundraising events? Can we be more proactive in researching and producing new ways of funding the group? Of course we can, and we will.

The committee is looking at various options for the coming year, one of which is putting together a large event which will hopefully condense the need for raising group operating funds into a few days of the year. Rather than constantly trying to raise funds, the members and the committee could then spend their time on what they do best, caring for and protecting the future of our wildlife.

Communication is vital in any successful organisation, so please let the committee know where you are and what you are doing so that time and money isn’t wasted on phone calls to track carers down.

Your comments and ideas on how things could be done better or any suggestions for improving community awareness and fundraising will be welcomed and appreciated.

Let’s all work together to make this a successful and productive year for F.A.U.N.A. so that we can do our bit to ensure that wildlife has a chance to survive in our communities.

Warm regards

Julie Zyzniewski
Vice President
